Intervention Orders
Do you need an Intervention Order?
If you or your children are victims of family violence, we can assist you with an Application for a Intervention Order. We can help by completing the form, offer advice on the options available to keep you and your family safe, and appear for you at Court.
Family Violence is not just about having a physical argument with someone. It includes:
- Coercive or threatening behaviours
- Damage to property
- Economic and financial abuse
- Psychological threats
- Sexual abuse
It can also include behaviours that expose children to violence even if they are not direct victims or witnesses to the abuse.
Have you been served with an Intervention Order?
Contact us if you have been served with an Intervention Order. We can discuss the order and advise you on how best to respond to the allegations. You must attend all Court Hearings and abide by the particular terms of the Order, even if one was made against you without you being at Court. We can attend Court with you, appear at the Hearing on your behalf and negotiate with the person who applied for the Order.
Since an Intervention Order is a civil matter, it does not mean you will have a criminal record but there can be other consequences for you. We will advise you of those for your particular situation.
Magistrates' Courts may have particular requirements and rules which we can advise you about once we discuss your individual circumstances.
Personal Safety Intervention Orders (Victoria)
A Personal Safety Intervention Order (PSIO) is an Order made when there is no family or intimate relationship between the parties, such as disputes between neighbours. We can advise you on all aspects of this area of law, including appearing at any Hearings.
